Saturday April 30 @ 9:00 Preston County Bonus Ride , Don D.85 miles (* * * *) from courthouse in downtown Morgantown, a hilly ride with 7000 feet of climbing Sunday May 1 @ 9:00 ( registration at 8:00 ) Appalachian Spring Spectacular, Don D. From Morgantown Wharf District parking garage. Choice of routes, 20 miles on rail trail, 46 or 57 miles on road, with hills $10 registration includes snacks during ride and pizza after ride. Saturday May 7, 10:00 Pricketts Fort, Kelly W 35 miles From Parking Building, Morgantown Wharf District, Some trail, some paved road down to Pricketts Fort State Park, return on trail. There will be a definite hill and some more gradual climbs. Food is available at a gas station near Pricketts Fort Sunday May 8, 1:30 Stonewall Jackson Lake Loop, Paul M (**) 25 miles From Stonewall Jackson Dam Parking Lot From I 79 Take exit 96, follow signs to dam visitor’s center parking lot. Ride around the lake. Some nice sunny views, road has some long grades. Saturday May 14, 10:00 Parsons to Thomas Rail Trail, Laurel K (**)30 miles from Parsons trail head (from downtown Parsons take Rt 219 east, cross bridge at the edge of town and the trail head is on the right) Trail is paved from Parsons to Hendricks, but still rough as it climbs on up to Thomas, so 1˝ inch or larger tires are best . Great scenery. Lunch at Purple Fiddle in Thomas. The return is downhill Sun May 15, 1:00 Oxford Leopold Loop, Gregg Mc W 35 miles(***) From ballfield on Rt 18 just right off Rt 50 west at West Union Quiet roads with some hills. Some new pavement between Summers and Leopold Very rural. A really nice ride. Bring plenty of water and snacks. Saturday May 21, 10:00 Snowbird Loop, Walter H 45 miles(**) From Marshville exit Rt 50 west A longer loop with few hills, but plenty of good riding. A choice of stores to stop for snacks about 2/3 of the way along. Return mostly on back roads, a little bit on Rt 50 Sunday May 22, 12:30 Urban Assault, Jim & Sandy W 10 to 12 miles from Weavers house at 136 Harrison, Clarksburg. a tour around town with several STEEP hills. Soup afterwards. Saturday May 28, 10:00 Helvetia, Laurel K 40 miles(***) From WV Game Farm on Rt 20, 9 miles south of Buckhannon Out and back ride on hilly roads with great scenery. Lunch at the Hutte restaurant (Swiss cuisine, no credit cards) in the quaint village of Helvetia Let the ride leader know that you are going. It is a bit of a drive to the start. Sunday May 29, 11:00 Harrisville, Gregg McW 37 miles. (***) Starts at Pizza House at Harrisville, (from Rt 50 W take Rt 16 south for 4 miles, restaurant is on the left at the first traffic light) Routes 31. 17 and 16. Great Ritchie County scenery, lots of good riding, bring plenty of water and energy bars Saturday June 4, 1:30 Monongah –Saltwell Loop, Bill F 28 miles (**) Starts at Walmart/Sams Club in Fairmont (I-79 exit 132, go south ˝ mile on US 250, park at Sams) Pleasant roads. No big hills. May include a short stretch of rail trail. Sunday June 5, 10:00 Brushy Fork, Paul M Up to 30 miles (**) From Deegan Lake parking lot. Heading east into Bridgeport on Rt 50, turn right at the light past Hardees (RT 58). When this road bears right, continue straight on the lake road to the picnic shelter and tennis courts. Easy out and back ride with just a couple of hills each way Saturday June 11, 10:00 Allegheny Highland Rail-Trail , Mike B 44 miles (* *) From trail head on Rt 219 just north of old Rt 33 in Elkins. Rail-Trail has 4 miles of asphalt at each end, good surface in between, OK for road bikes. Gradual climb over the hill each way. Wonderful scenery. Restaurant lunch in Parsons. Well worth the drive to Elkins Sunday June 12, 10:30 Annual CRC Picnic at Lake Floyd,Gary W Rt 50 west, take first left after Marshville exit, onto Hall’s Run Rd to Lake Floyd, continue with the lake on your left to the clubhouse/ picnic shelter on the left. Ride at 10:30 Snowbird Loop 42 miles (**).or shorter Jarvisville/ Patterson Fork Loop , 23 –27 miles. Lots of good riding in the area The rail trail is close by, also an easy road ride around the lake or over to the covered bridge would be possible. Picnic lunch about 1:30. Bring a covered dish or munchies to share. Club provides utensils; hot dogs by Gary. Some easy riding after lunch or swim in the lake or bring your canoe. Showers are available. Fishing permits available from Lake Floyd members. Saturday June 18,10:00 Adaland, Marilyn N (***) 36 miles From Boothsville Fire Dept. From I-79 exit # 132 south toward Grafton on Rt 250. The Fire Dept is at the Bingo Hall on the right along 250 about 5 miles from the exit, not actually in Boothsville. Hilly out and back ride. Bring snacks and plenty of water. Adaland is a historic house on a hill, a nice place to rest and regroup. Saturday June 18, to Wednesday June 22 Potomac Highlands Tour, Laurel K A five day self-contained inn to inn tour in one of the most scenic areas of WV. Starts and ends in Burlington, WV Although this region is mountainous, most of our roads follow the valleys. Daily mileages will be shorter than previous fall tours in this area to allow plenty of time to see the sights, take pictures, sample the local cuisine, maybe even have the energy to take a little hike. Day 1-Seneca Rocks 50 miles, Day 2 Monterey , VA 50 miles, Day 3 Brandywine, WV 36 miles includes a big climb, outstanding scenery, Day 4: 38 miles to Moorefield, Day 5 37 miles back to Burlington Click here for reservation info. Sunday June 19,1:30 Corbin Branch, Bill F 18 miles (**) From Bridgeport Hardees (just off Rt 50) The original shorter loop with a couple of hills, nice scenery Saturday June 25, undetermined times – Ride with RAAM, Bill F (call Bill) Sunday June 26, 9:00 Hodgesville Loop, Paul M 59 miles (***) From Veterans Memorial Park off RT 19 south, Clarksburg. Ride down to Lost Creek; loop the loop with the big hill and return by the same route. Snacks or light lunch available in Jane Lew and Lost Creek |
