Saturday September 3 @ 10:00 Shavers Fork Loop Laurel K

(**) About 44 miles from the Allegheny Highlands Trailhead on US 219 just north of old Rt 33 in Elkins. Bring mountain bikes or hybrids. Some paved road, but mostly gravel over to the scenic bridge on the Shavers Fork and along the river to Parsons. Pick up sandwiches at the Sheetz or have lunch in the restaurant and return on the rail trail, which is quite smooth. There are a couple of pretty good climbs, but the scenery is outstanding and the pace easy enough to enjoy it.

Sunday September 4 @ 9: 00 Rowlesburg Festival Rides Jim & Sandy W

(** / ****) Choices of 30+ 50+ 70 miles. Challenging hills, great over looks. Low traffic roads. Come early to VFD breakfast in Park. Directions, From Morgantown, Rt 7 to Kingwood, Rt 72 south to Rowlesburg. Clarksburg, Rt 50 to 72 north to Rowlesburg. Bring snacks and water on ride. Free maps. These rides are part of a weekend long festival that includes boating/kayaking events, carnival rides, model train displays and a dinner served in the Rowlesburg Park. (**1/2) 35 to 40 miles From VA Park in Clarksburg Ride down to Lost Creek, over Johnstown Hill and loop back around to Lost Creek and back to Clarksburg. Snacks available at the BP in Lost Creek. One big hill.

Sunday September 11 @ 9:00 Weston to Burnsville Paul M

(**) 46 miles From Stonewall Jackson Dam Take exit 96 off I 79 follow signs to parking lot for dam Out and back ride with a few long grades. Optional route around the lake would add a few miles. Take sunscreen and plenty of water. Snacks/ lunch at the 79er restaurant.

(***) 35 to 45 miles Meet at the courthouse in downtown Morgantown Route goes through Bobtown and Taylortown, Mt Morris (snacks available) Out into the countryside, it gets hilly

(*1/2) 20 miles From Mt Morris truck stop ( going north on I-79, take the first exit in Pennsylvania) Slow ride 20 miles a few hills Lunch afterwards

(*1/2) 20 miles From Pricketts Fort State Park (take exit 139 and follow signs to park) Interesting route that winds around through the Fairmont area. Easy pace.

Sunday September 25 @ 8:00 Annual Club Century Kelly W / Bill F

(****) 100 miles From Salem College parking lot on Main St in Salem across from the BP station. The same out and back route of recent years through Middlebourne to Sistersville. Mostly rolling with a few hills on very pleasant roads. A couple of choices for lunch, some country stores along the way and a stop for snacks provided by the club. Limited SAG.

Saturday October 1 @ 10:00 West Union Loop Walter H

(**) 50 miles From ballfield on Rt 18 North just off Rt 50 West at West Union. Route takes Sunnyside Rd to Oxford Rd to Rt. 74 in Pullman. Rt 74 North through Mountain and Mole Hill to Rt 18 S. Follow 18 back to West Union. Three or four hills; water/snacks in Pennsboro. There are several options to shorten the ride , if needed

(**) 25 miles From Jane Lew Take exit 105 of (I-79) Park on dead end side road in front of the truck stop just east of I-79) Route goes through Berlin, over a steep hill down to Rt 33. Traffic on 33 should be low for the ride toward Weston. There is a choice of routes for the return to Jane Lew

Saturday October 8 to Monday October 10 Fall Color Tour Laurel K

(**1/2) A CRC tradition. Meet on Saturday morning at the 4-U Motel/Restaurant at 9:00 for breakfast and 10:00 to Ride. Two day self contained loop tour from Seneca Rocks to Franklin, WV and back. Distances are about 40 miles on Saturday with a major climb and about 55 miles on Sunday with no major climb. Those who have Monday free can stay over Sunday night at Seneca Rocks for a day ride of 35 to 50 miles in the area nearby. There are a variety of options for Monday's ride. including Franklin to McDowell and back, the Greenland Gap, the Durbin- Cass Loop, etc.

This entire area is very scenic. We have had wonderful tours in this part of the state in the past. If you have never done a tour like this before, now is the time to try it. This route is very doable. The pace will be relaxed. Lodgings and food along this route are nothing fancy, but fairly inexpensive. See reservation information. Let me know if you are going and I will see that you receive the Forest Festival avoidance route for driving through Elkins to the start of the tour

Sunday October 9 @ 1:30 Deckers Creek Rail Betsy B

(*1/2) 25 miles From Sabraton Wendy's. The trail has a good hard packed surface suitable for road bikes. It climbs steadily away from Morgantown toward Masontown and flattens out as it goes on to Reedsville. There are some very pretty spots along the creek and also some interesting old coke ovens. The return is all downhill.

Saturday October 15 Over Mt Davis Jack B

(****) 50 miles From Sisters Restaurant in Confluence, PA 9:00 for breakfast. Ride at 10:00. Road ride over the highest spot in Pennsylvania to Meyersdale, PA. There is a fire tower at the top. Very hilly, but there are some fantastic downhills on the return trip. Lunch in Meyersdale. Call ride leader if weather is questionable. Bring enough snacks and plenty of water. Bring some extra warm clothing, including gloves. It can be chilly. High adventure

Sunday October 16 @ 1:30 Jane Lew- Lake Riley Bill F

(*1/2) 30 miles (Take exit 105 of (I-79) Park on dead end side road in front of the truck stop just east of I-79) Pleasant route through Weston and out the old Lake Riley road. Returns via Jacksons Mill. No big hills, a good bit of the route is fairly flat. A very nice ride

Saturday October 22 @ 10:00 North Bend Rail Trail Laurel K

(*1/2) 27 miles From Depot at Pennsboro. From Rt 50 West, take Rt 74 north into Pennsboro. Stay on it as it zigzags into town and up to the Depot. Flat rail trail with good mountain bike surface. Four tunnels each way to Cairo. Detour on paved roads into state park for lunch adds a hill

Sunday October 23 @ 10:00 Kinchelo- Buffalo Lake Gregg McW 40 to 50 miles

(**) from Marshville exit of Rt 50 West Route goes out through Jarvisville to Big Isaac, over the big hill to Kinchelo to Rt 19 and returns via Buffalo Lake road, remaining on good pavement all but a short stretch. Bring plenty of water and snacks

Saturday October 29 @ 10:00 Marshville-Skeleton Run Laurel K

(**) 30 miles from Marshville exit of Rt 50 West. A pleasant ride past the covered bridge and out into the countryside. Returns through Salem with a possible side trip on Indian Run or Flinderation, newly paved.

Sunday October 30 @ 1:30 Wattersmith Mountain Biking Gregg McW

Park at superintendent's office/activities bldg area. Coming from West Milford on Duck Creek Rd this will be the last (3rd?) park entrance on the left or if you are coming over the hill from the McWhorter Rd. it will be the first entrance on the right. Mountain biking on singletrack trails. These trails are said to be easier than the trails at Coopers Rock but expect some hills, mud, rocks, tree roots, etc. Some additional trails have been constructed in recent years, so let's check this out.
